Gambling Online – Good or Bad?

by scott on Apr.18, 2009, under Uncategorized

Many people these days argue and claim as to whether gambling online is good or bad. These same people seem to see the major difference between gambling, and gambling in an online casino. There are a few differences, but none at all that would constitute between saying real-life casinos are good compared to online casinos being bad.

The main difference between online and real-life casinos is convenience. You don’t have to drive or take a bus anywhere; you can just login in a matter of minutes and play online poker. You don’t have to deal with noisy or drunk gamblers, and the online poker environment is more professional and streamlined for personal use. Meaning, you’ll be able to play as fast as you want, or if you want to play with others, you won’t have to deal with them in person.

So how does that make gambling online worse? It doesn’t. If you were to argue that online gambling is bad, then you’d have to argue that real-life gambling is bad too. So it’s a null argument that only points out how much better online casinos are. Granted, some people gamble in real-life casinos because of the atmosphere, the camaraderie, and the people. But for the same reasons, people log onto online casinos avoid these things.

Noisy, obnoxious players can totally ruin your experience at a poker or black jack table, and sometimes the atmosphere of a real-life casino can be less than satisfying.

Everyone has their own reasons for gambling, and furthermore, everyone has their own preferences as to which kind of casinos they like – be it in real-life or online casino. But gambling online or online poker isn’t worse than a traditional casino at all. It’s certainly more convenient, faster, and for some people more enjoyable. The only difference that could be argued is preference. So just try them both out, and go with what you like.
